WAVES

WAVES is the native token of the Waves blockchain, used for transaction fees and block rewards to incentivize network maintenance and development. The more WAVES a block generator holds by ownership or lease, the greater its chance of adding the next block.

Properties

• Decimals: WAVES has 8 decimal places.

• Units: The smallest unit, WAVELET, equals to 1/100,000,000 WAVES.

• ID: The WAVES token ID is represented as null in the REST API.

• Supply:

  • 100 million WAVES were issued at launch in April 2016.

  • Since October 2019, the activation of feature #14 introduced block rewards, increasing the total supply over time.

  • The current supply in WAVELETs is available via Data Services.
